3.26 (화) "만용과 용기 사이에서" (마가복음 14:43-52)
“Recklessness vs. True Courage” (Mark 14:43-52)

예수님께서 밤샘 기도를 마치신 후, 새벽에 대제사장이 데려온 폭도들이 칼과 몽둥이를 들고 예수님을 잡으러 몰려왔습니다.
After Jesus finished praying all night, at dawn, the high priest ordered a mob armed with swords and clubs to arrest Him.

가룟 유다가 돈에 눈이 어두워져서 주님을 배반했고, 예수님이 계신 곳으로 그들을 안내해 온 것입니다.
Blinded by money, Judas led them to where Jesus was and betrayed Him.

(47절) 제자들 중 한 사람이 (요한복음에 보면 베드로가) 칼을 빼어 폭도 중 한 명의 귀를 잘라 버리고 말았습니다.
V 47 Then one of those standing near drew his sword and struck the servant of the high priest, cutting off his ear.

베드로가 자다가 일어나서 정신이 없었는지, 순간적인 혈기로 만용을 부렸는지 우발행동을 했던 것입니다.
Because this happened when Peter woke up, he may not have been in his right mind, or he may have acted recklessly in the heat of the moment.

마태복음에 보면 주님께서 폭력으로 저항한 제자들을 오히려 만류하시면서 이렇게 말씀하셨습니다.
In the Gospel of Matthew, the Lord actually stopped the disciples who resisted with violence and said this:

"네 칼을 칼집에 도로 꽂아라. 칼을 쓰는 사람은 모두 칼로 망한다.
“Put your sword back in its place, for all who draw the sword will die by the sword.

누가복음에 보면 주님께서 그 귀 짤린 사람을 치유까지 해주셨습니다.
In the Gospel of Luke, it says the Lord healed the man whose ear was cut off.

크리스천 중에서도 과격한 말을 하고, 과격한 행동 심지어 폭력까지 행사하는 경우가 있습니다.
Even among Christians, there are people who say radical things, act recklessly, and even engage in violence.
그것이 정의 때문이라고 정당화 하기까지 합니다.
And they even justify it by saying it’s for justice.
 
그러나 주님께서는 그런 만용과 폭언, 폭력을 책망하셨습니다.
However, the Lord rebuked such cruelty, verbal abuse, and violence.

(야고보서 1:20) 노하는 사람은 하나님의 의를 이루지 못하기 때문입니다.
(James 1:20, NASB) for the anger of man does not achieve the righteousness of God.

(51-52절) 갑자기 홑이불을 두르고 있다고 맨몸으로 달아난 어떤 젊은이의 이야기가 나옵니다.
In verses 51-52, a young man suddenly runs away naked leaving his linen garment behind.

유대인들은 홑이불과 옷의 구분이 없었다고 합니다.
It is said that the Jews had no distinction between linen and clothes.
 
낮에는 외투로 두르고 다니고 밤에는 덮고 잘 수 있었다고 합니다.
They used it for a cloak during the day and for a blanket at night.

많은 주석가들은 이 젊은이가 마가복음을 기록했던 마가 자신의 이야기라고 해석합니다.
Many commentators interpret the story of this young man as Mark himself, who wrote the Gospel of Mark.

최후의 만찬이 오순절 기도회가 열렸던 마가의 어머니 집 다락방에서 개최되었을 것으로 추측합니다.
It is believed that the Last Supper was held in the attic of Mark's mother's house, where the Pentecost prayer meeting was held.

그리고 그 날 함께 만찬을 나누었던 마가가 주님과 제자들의 산기도에는 따라가지 않고 자다가, 아침에 소식을 듣고 달려왔는데 용기가 없어서 도망쳤던 것으로 보입니다.
And on that day, Mark, who shared the Last Supper with Jesus, did not join the Lord and the disciples when they went to pray in the mountains but slept. In the morning, when he heard the news, he came running, but it appears that being afraid, he ran away.

진정한 용기는 자기 뜻에 맞지 않는다고 해서 폭언과 분노를 표출하는 것이 아니라, 신앙을 지키고 드러내야 할때 뒤로 도망치지 않는 것이 진정한 용기인 것입니다.
True courage is not being verbally abusive and expressing anger just because something goes against our will, but it’s about keeping our faith and not running away when we need to show our trust in God.

그리고 마가처럼 자신의 실수와 약함을 은폐하지 않고 인정하고 고백할 수 있는 것이 용기인 줄 믿습니다.
And like Mark, we believe that courage lies in being able to acknowledge and confess our sins, rather than concealing our mistakes and weaknesses.
