3.29 (금) "십자가의 종류" (마가복음 15:16-32)
“Two Different Types of Crosses” (Mark 15:16-32)

찬송가 339장

1. 주님께서는 십자가를 지시기 전에 로마 군인들에게 조롱을 당하시고 침 뱉음의 모욕도 당하셨습니다.
1. Before Jesus was crucified, He was ridiculed and spit on by Roman soldiers.

그리고 십자가에 달리신 후에는 동족 유대인들의 조롱과 모욕의 말을 들으셨습니다.
심지어 예수님 옆에서 함께 못막혀 죽어가는 강도들도 주님을 욕했습니다.
And even after He was crucified, the mockery and insults of His fellow Jews followed. In addition, the robbers who were being put to death next to Jesus cursed Him.

주님께서는 죄 없으신데도 우리를 구원하시기 위해서 위대한 희생을 하셨습니다. 아마 요즘 그런 희생을 하면 영웅이 되었을 것입니다. 그러나 존경은 커녕 오히려 조롱과 수치를 당하셨던 것입니다.
Even though He was without sin, He made a great sacrifice to save us. Perhaps making such a sacrifice today would have made Him a hero. However, instead of being respected, He was ridiculed and put to shame.

-하나님의 일을 하다가 보면, 억울하거나 화가 날 때도 있을 것입니다. 그러나 완전하신 주님께서 당하신 조롱과 모욕을 생각하면 우리가 겪는 일은 아무 것도 아닙니다.
-As we do God’s work, there will be times when things feel unfair and we get angry. However, when we think of the ridicule and insults that Jesus had to go through, what we have to experience is nothing.

2. 예수님께서 십자가를 지고 가실 때, 그 무게가 너무나 무거워서 골고다 언덕을 올라가지 못할 정도였습니다. 대략 250Ib 정도 되었을 것으로 고증합니다.
또 밤새 모진 고문을 당하셨기 때문에 체력이 얼마 남지 않았을 것입니다.
2. When Jesus was carrying the cross, the weight of it was so heavy that He could not climb up the hill to Golgotha. It is believed to have been approximately 250Ib.
Also, because He had been tortured all night long, He must have had very little physical strength left.

그래서 구레네 사람 시몬이 중간에 대신 십자가를 운반해주었습니다. 구레네 시몬의 심정이 어떠했을까요?
얼마 후 죽으러 올라가는 십자가를 지고 올라가는 사람과 일시적으로 십자가를 운반해주기 위해서 올라가는 사람의 심정이 얼마나 달랐겠습니까? 아주 가벼운 마음이었겠죠.
So Simon from Cyrene temporarily carried the cross instead. How do you think he must have felt? Think about how Jesus must have felt bearing the cross to go up and die and how Simon must have felt to just temporarily carry it. The latter must have felt very light hearted.

주님께서는 제자들에게 이렇게 말씀하셨습니다.
(막 8:34) 그리고 예수께서 제자들과 함께 무리를 불러 놓고 그들에게 말씀하셨다. "나를 따라오려고 하는 사람은, 자기를 부인하고, 자기 십자가를 지고, 나를 따라오너라.
Jesus said this to His disciples:
(Mark 8:34) And calling the crowd to him with his disciples, he said to them, “If anyone would come after me, let him deny himself and take up his cross and follow me.

-1) 우리가 헌신하고 희생하는 정도가 너무 심하다고 느껴서 속상하신 적이 있습니까? 그러나 주님의 십자가에 비하면 우리 십자가는 사실 너무나 가벼운 것입니다. 죽으러 올라가는 심정이 아니라, 일시적인 희생이기에 내가 살 길은 항상 열어놓는 헌신에 불과합니다.
-1) Have you ever been upset because you felt that the level of dedication and sacrifice you are making was too much? However, compared to Jesus’ cross, our cross is actually very light. We’re not making sacrifices to the point of death, but our commitment is temporary. And we can always choose to get out of it if we wanted to.

-2)우리가 십자가를 지고 주님을 따라가기 위해서는 어느 정도 자기를 부인하지 않으면 안됩니다. 하지만 구레네 시몬 처럼 자의가 아니라 반강제적으로라도 순종하는 것도 필요합니다.
-2) In order to bear the cross and follow Jesus, we must deny ourselves to some extent. However, like Simon of Cyrene, it is also necessary to obey, not always voluntarily but also semi-compulsorily.

1. 억울한 일, 화나는 일을 당할 때 침 뱉음 당하셨던 주님을 생각하고 참게 하소서!
2. 나의 희생이 너무 심하다고 느껴질 때, 죽으러 올라간 것이 아니라 잠시 십자가를 진 것에 불과했던 구레네 시몬과 같다는 것을 기억하게 하옵소서!
3. 때로는 마음이 내키지 않을 때에도, 꾸준하게 자신에게 주어진 사명에 책임을 다하게 도와주옵소서!
1. When we encounter something that is unfair or upsetting, help us think of Jesus who was spat on and help us endure it!
2. When we feel like our sacrifice is too much, help us remember that we are like Simon of Cyrene, who did not go up to die but only carried the cross for a moment!
3. Help us to consistently and responsibly fulfill the mission given to us, even when we don’t feel like it sometimes!
